Pastor Len Ripley
A Life Led by Faith
From the basketball court to law enforcement to the pulpit, Pastor Len Ripley’s path has been anything but ordinary. A North Charleston native, he’s been an athlete, a cop, and a corporate leader—but at 40, he answered the call to ministry. His story is one of faith, resilience, and purpose.
From Park Circle to the World
Pastor Len grew up just a few doors down from North Charleston UMC, where faith was always part of his life. A natural athlete, he earned a basketball and music scholarship at Baptist College of Charleston before finishing his degree at St. Mary’s University in Canada, where he also played ball. But his path wasn’t a straight line—it was just getting started.
After college, Len worked as a Controller for Michelin in Nova Scotia and South Carolina before shifting gears into law enforcement. He served as an Administrative Deputy for the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office and later with the North Charleston PD. He saw the best and worst of humanity, experiences that shaped his deep sense of compassion and purpose.
A Calling That Couldn’t Be Ignored
At 40, Len felt a pull he couldn’t ignore—one that had been with him since childhood. He entered candidacy for ordained ministry in the United Methodist Church, a leap of faith that changed everything. His life experience gave him a unique approach to preaching, one that connects with people from all walks of life.
Through his years of ministry, Len has led congregations across South Carolina, growing churches, strengthening communities, and guiding people through life’s toughest moments. His passion for serving others is evident in everything he does, from leading Sunday services to walking alongside those in need.

Faith, Family, and the Future
Beyond the pulpit, Pastor Len is a devoted husband to Debra and a proud father and grandfather. His love for people extends far beyond the walls of the church, whether he’s mentoring young leaders, supporting community outreach, or simply sharing a laugh with those around him.
Today, he continues to serve with the same energy and dedication that has defined his journey. Every sermon, every conversation, every moment is rooted in his belief that faith isn’t just something you practice—it’s something you live.
